Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, the Embassy of Finland in the UAE hosted the exceptional musical event “Nordic Lights” on Friday, December 13, 2024. This unique evening celebrated the rich heritage and culture of Finland through an extraordinary concert featuring globally renowned Finnish musicians alongside emerging local talents, performed at the Ras Al Khaimah Creative and Cultural Center.

Among the event’s highlights were captivating performances by the famous Finnish duo, cellist Jussi Makkonen and pianist Nazig Azezian. They were joined by the Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Riad Kudsi. Additionally, the concert featured the world premiere of “Nordic Adagio,” a stunning composition by Thomas Cantilinen, alongside unique arrangements of works by the celebrated Finnish composer Jean Sibelius for cello and piano.

This exclusive event offered a harmonious blend of world-class artistry and local talent, providing attendees with a rare opportunity to experience Finland’s remarkable cultural heritage.
