His brother, Abdul Hamied Seddiqi, Chairman of Seddiqi Holding, confirmed the news on Thursday, marking the end of an era for a man who helped transform a family passion into a global powerhouse of luxury retail.
Architect of a Luxury Institution
Abdulmagied Seddiqi was instrumental in shaping Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, a brand founded in 1950 that has become synonymous with horological excellence in the region. His journey into the world of fine watchmaking began in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he pursued his higher education. It was there that he mastered the French language and deepened his technical knowledge of watches—a foundation that would support his lifelong dedication to the industry.
From Humble Beginnings to Global Eminence
Despite the brand’s current status as a retail empire, Abdulmagied’s roots were humble and heartfelt. His brother fondly recalled their childhood evenings, where they would sit on the floor watching their father and elder brother conduct daily accounting and stock-taking. These formative moments of family unity and business rigor laid the cornerstone for what is today one of the most respected names in the luxury world.
A Private Farewell
The Seddiqi family has requested privacy during this difficult time to honor the memory of a leader who was as beloved for his character as he was for his business acumen. Abdulmagied Seddiqi is survived by his brother and his four sons—Mohammad, Hasan, Ahmad, and Mansoor Abdulmagied Seddiqi—who continue to carry the torch of the family’s prestigious legacy.
His burial took place at the Al Quoz Cemetery, marking a final, dignified return to the land he helped enrich through his vision and tireless pursuit of excellence.
