UAE and Syrian Riders Shine on Day Two of the 13th Fatima Bint Mubarak International Showjumping Cup

The 13th edition of the Fatima Bint Mubarak International Showjumping Cup continued on its second day, with riders from the United Arab Emirates and Syria standing out once again at the event hosted by the Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi.

The championship is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation “Umm Al Emarat,” with guidance and oversight from Sheikha Fatima bint Hazzaa Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy and Chairperson of both the Abu Dhabi Ladies Club and the Al Ain Ladies Club. The event is organized by the Fatima Bint Mubarak Women’s Sports Academy.

 

Emirati Rider Saud Mohammed Al Mheini Tops Juniors Category

On the second day, Emirati rider Saud Mohammed Al Mheini claimed the top spot in the international Juniors category, in a one-round competition with a jump-off on obstacles set at 130 cm. Al Mheini, riding “Cartouche M Z,” won the title with the fastest time, while Emirati rider Fatima Etan Youssef and Bulgarian rider Nastasya Klats took second and third place, respectively.

Syrian Rider Zuhair Mohammed Al Zbiby Wins Young Riders Category

In the second international competition for the Young Riders category, featuring a one-round plus jump-off format on 110 cm obstacles, Syrian rider Zuhair Mohammed Al Zbiby secured first place riding “Snow White.” Emirati rider Bakhit Mohammed Al Qubaisi finished second, and Iraqi rider Hamza Al Dulaimi came third.

1-Star Small Jumping Horses (6 Years Old)

In the 1-Star Small Jumping Horses category (6 years old), featuring a two-phase competition on 115 cm obstacles, the podium was led by the horse “Pink Floyd F & F” ridden by young Emirati rider Saif Owaidah Al Karbi. Second place went to “B. Valentine,” ridden by British rider Katie Speller, and third place was awarded to “Prince Bells Van,” ridden by Syrian rider Sabri Badanki.

Laith Gharib’s Remarkable Wins

Young Syrian rider Laith Gharib achieved his third victory of the championship, and his second win with the mare “Favorite du Grandry,” securing the top spot in the International Young Riders category. In a one-round plus jump-off format on 135 cm obstacles, Gharib recorded the fastest time, while young Emirati rider Sheikh Khalid Sultan Al Qasimi finished second, and Fatima Etan Youssef claimed third place.

Gharib continued his remarkable performance, winning his fourth competition in the championship, and his third in the international 2-Star category, in a one-round plus jump-off event on 120 cm obstacles. Riding the 12-year-old mare “Alete des Ponts,” Gharib claimed first place by the fastest time. Second place went to young Emirati rider Saif Owaidah Al Karbi, and third place to Syrian rider Mohammed Ghali Al Zbibk.

2-Star Small Jumping Horses (7 Years Old)

In the two-phase competition for 7-year-old Small Jumping Horses on 125 cm obstacles, the mare “Honora J” ridden by rider Mohammed Hamad Al Karbi took first place, followed by Emirati rider Salem Ahmed Al Suwaidi in second, and Greek rider Dimitri Natsis in third.

Qualifying for the Grand Prix

Syrian rider Amro Hamsho secured the first qualifying spot for the Grand Prix, scheduled for Friday evening. Hamsho’s win concluded the second day of the championship in the 2-Star category, with a one-round competition on 140 cm obstacles riding “Match Loved.” Egyptian rider Amro Gamal Mohammed came second, and Syrian rider Osama Al Zbiby took third.

In a two-phase competition on 125 cm obstacles, Emirati rider Hazaa Hamad Al Dhaheri, riding “Gadway Dardely,” claimed first place, Syrian rider Mohammed Mughith Al Shahab took second, and Emirati rider Salem Ahmed Al Suwaidi finished third.

Championship Continues

The Fatima Bint Mubarak International Showjumping Cup 2026 continues daily until Friday, concluding the international competitions, followed by the local events on Sunday.
