Their Highnesses Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, attended the official opening of Liwa International Festival 2026 in Liwa City, Al Dhafra, marking the launch of one of the UAE’s most prominent cultural and entertainment events.
Festival Highlights
During their tour, Their Highnesses explored key festival activities, including major sports championships, heritage experiences, and family-friendly entertainment. They also visited Liwa Village, which offers artistic programs, cultural showcases, and interactive activities.
The opening ceremony featured impressive dune displays combining drone technology, sound, light, and laser effects, alongside fireworks and an aerial performance by Al Fursan, the UAE Air Force’s official aerobatic team.
A Rich Program in the Heart of Al Dhafra
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Liwa International Festival 2026 is organized in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and several strategic partners. Under the theme “The Land Returns and Gives”, the festival presents live concerts, cultural and heritage activities, motorsport competitions, dune challenges, and New Year’s Eve celebrations, positioning Liwa as a vibrant destination for adventure, culture, and entertainment.
