In an extraordinary display of luxury, Maison Francis Kurkdjian has taken its signature fragrance Baccarat Rouge 540 to a new five-figure level. The perfume house will unveil a limited-edition release priced at $28,000, featuring a luxurious crystal case and an exclusive refill membership, proving once again that high-end perfumes can reach the same level as luxury handbags and jewelry.

The new edition will be released in limited batches, with 54 products launched annually over the next decade, totaling 540 exclusive bottles. While the permanent collection bottles start at $695 for 6.8 ounces, the premium price reflects both the addition of ambergris and the extraordinary crystal packaging.

Exquisite Crystal Design

The original bottle designer, Fred Rawyler, was tasked with creating a red crystal vessel equipped with a crystal-compatible spray and a 24-carat gold cap. Additionally, 19 Baccarat artisans crafted the display, which took 500 hours. The fragrance is presented in a spruce wood box lined with mirrors and leather, and a hand-stitched lambskin sleeve by Parisian leather workshop Atelier Renard.

Exclusive Customer Experience

CEO Marc Chaya introduced a members-only club, Les amis du Rouge, offering up to five refill purchases per year. Members also gain access to curated brand experiences, including private dinners, masterclasses with Kurkdjian, shows at the Vienna State Opera, and a visit to the perfumer’s upcoming solo exhibition at Palais de Tokyo.

High-End Collectible Perfumes

Ultra-luxury collectible fragrances have become more common among LVMH-owned perfume houses, fueled by collectors’ enthusiasm. Some of the most expensive perfumes include Bulgari’s Opera Prima ($235,000, 2014) and Dior’s J’adore L’or Prestige Edition ($75,000, 2016).
