The miniature painting process is painstaking: outlined freely by the artist, painted in reverse on the back of the disc, then completed on the front side. Using up to nine shades of pink and twelve shades of blue lacquer, the work must be done in a single uninterrupted session before the lacquer dries. Each flower is a tribute to precision, requiring a sterile, particle-free environment to preserve the crystal’s clarity.

Beneath the sapphire dial lies a rotating mother-of-pearl disc, airbrushed in layered blues to mimic a star-strewn sky. A laser-cut meteor design becomes visible only when the disc aligns with the top layer, revealing a metallic silver base dial that mimics the flash of a shooting star.
