Elon Musk Welcomed His 13th Child 5 Months Ago, Author Ashley St. Clair Confirms

Elon Musk 13th Child

Elon Musk has reportedly welcomed his 13th child, born five months ago, as revealed by author Ashley St. Clair. St. Clair, best known for her children’s book Elephants Are Not Birds, shared the news via a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday, February 14.

“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father,” St. Clair wrote in the post. “I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.”

St. Clair expressed her desire to ensure a safe and normal upbringing for their child, asking the media to respect their privacy and avoid invasive coverage. She signed off with the Latin phrase “Alea Iacta Est,” meaning “The die is cast.”

This news comes as Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, already shares 12 children from previous relationships. His most recent additions were twins Strider and Azure, born in November 2021, with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. In June 2024, Bloomberg reported that Zilis had welcomed a third child with Musk.

Musk also shares six children with his ex-wife Justine Wilson, whom he was married to from 2000 to 2008. They are parents to twins Vivian and Griffin, both 20, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, all 18. Tragically, their son Nevada passed away from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at just 10 weeks old.

In 2018, Musk began a relationship with singer Grimes (Claire Boucher), and the two welcomed son X Æ A-Xii in May 2020, followed by their daughter Exa Dark Sideræl via surrogate in 2021. They also share another son, Techno Mechanicus, as confirmed in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Musk.

Despite their 2022 split, the two remained in the public eye due to their parenting arrangements. In September 2024, Grimes filed a lawsuit in the San Francisco Superior Court, petitioning to establish parental rights over their three children.

Musk’s perspective on fatherhood was shared in a 2020 interview with The New York Times, where he described the early stages of parenting as primarily Grimes’ domain. “Well, babies are just eating and pooping machines, you know?” he said. “Grimes has a much bigger role than me right now. … When the kid gets older, there will be more of a role for me.”
