Donald Trump, the president-elect, has shared with his golfing buddies that he plans to reduce his time on the golf course once he returns to the White House. While he has always enjoyed the sport, he told those close to him that he intends to “put away his clubs” in order to focus on the country’s needs.
Sources from the clubhouse reveal that Trump, like many previous presidents, has played golf during his time in office. However, with the pressing security threats and the need to prioritize his administration’s efforts, he feels he won’t have the luxury of golfing as much as he did before.
That said, Trump won’t completely give up the game. He’ll still hit the links occasionally for “working” games or to play with major donors. But his regular golf group, consisting of about 14 close friends, will have to adjust as their weekly rounds are put on hold for the time being.
Despite the cutback, it seems Trump’s golfing days are far from over. He may still enjoy occasional rounds with figures like Elon Musk or Senator Lindsey Graham, but his primary focus will be on the country as he takes on his new role.
Trump, who owns 18 golf properties worldwide, spent a significant amount of his last term as president at his own courses, although it remains unclear how much time he actually spent playing. However, after a security scare in September, he announced plans to cut back on golf for safety reasons, only to return to the course after winning the election.
