BMW is preparing to make a bold entrance into the ultra-luxury off-road SUV segment, with global reports revealing the development of a new model internally named the “G74”, expected to launch in 2029.
The upcoming SUV is said to feature a strong, boxy design inspired by the classic Mercedes G-Wagon, marking BMW’s most direct attempt yet to compete with Mercedes-Benz in the high-end off-road luxury category.
Built on the CLAR platform shared with the X5, the G74 will reportedly be produced in South Carolina, USA. Industry expectations suggest it may eventually replace the XM, especially after its slower-than-expected market performance.
