Turkish Technic and Rolls-Royce to Build Engine Hub in Istanbul

Turkish Technic Rolls-Royce partnership

Turkish Technic, a global leader in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, has announced a landmark agreement with Rolls-Royce, one of the world’s foremost aircraft engine manufacturers. Under this partnership, a cutting-edge engine maintenance facility will be established at Istanbul Airport, licensed and certified to the highest technological standards. This strategic move aims to strengthen Turkish Technic’s leading position in the industry and reinforce Turkey’s status as a global hub for high-tech aviation services.

Scheduled for completion and operation in 2027, the facility will enable Turkish Technic to offer full maintenance services for Rolls-Royce’s Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engines, which power the Airbus A350 and A330neo aircraft. This development is set to significantly boost skilled aviation labor in Turkey, while also supporting the growth of local supply chains and engineering talent. With a projected capacity of around 200 engine shop visits per year, the facility is expected to be among the largest in the region, further cementing Turkish Technic’s role as a top-tier engine MRO provider.

The facility will not only serve Turkish Airlines’ growing fleet but also provide maintenance services to global customers under Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare program.

Official Statements on the Partnership

Professor Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee at Turkish Technic, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration:

“We are thrilled to partner with one of the most prominent engine manufacturers in the world. Rolls-Royce’s expertise will enhance our engine maintenance capabilities on a large scale. Once completed, this new facility will empower us to deliver comprehensive services for various Trent engine models, allowing us to meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry. This partnership not only reinforces our position in the MRO sector but also enables us to provide world-class services to our clients globally.”

Rob Watson, President of Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace, commented:

“This agreement is part of our ongoing commitment to significantly expand our global MRO capacity by 2030. Partnering with Turkish Technic marks a major step forward in our growth strategy. Their inclusion in our global MRO network will help support our TotalCare customers worldwide and deepens our longstanding relationship with Turkish Airlines. This facility will deliver essential support for their Airbus A350 fleet and demonstrates our confidence in Turkish Technic’s ambition to become a global leader in large civil engine maintenance.”

Watson added that this agreement aligns with Rolls-Royce’s broader commitment to Turkey, as reaffirmed in April 2024 through several industrial collaboration initiatives.

“We are pleased to welcome Turkish Technic into our expanding Trent engine MRO network,” he said.

Strategic Vision for Turkey

This new initiative leverages Turkey’s unique geographic position as a bridge between continents and a historic crossroads of trade and culture. It aligns with broader national goals of fostering innovation, sustainability, and economic cooperation in the aviation sector. Furthermore, it strengthens the strategic partnership between Turkey and the United Kingdom—serving as a model of successful international collaboration in aerospace.
